‘Hero’ mum-to-be embarrasses a stranger who told her not to drink Starbucks coffee by telling them ‘I’m not pregnant’


A PREGNANT woman was told by a stranger to stop drinking Starbucks coffee – but she had the last laugh.

In a post on Twitter, a woman called Jax revealed how a person gave her unsolicited advice when they overheard her order in the popular chain.

The mum-to-be from New York revealed how they told her she should only be drinking decaffeinated coffee if she’s expecting.

“(I am 6 months pregnant),” she wrote.

“Me after ordering my coffee:

“Stranger at Starbucks: you know you should be drinking decaf when you’re pregnant.

“Me: I’m… not pregnant.

“Stranger: (horrified) I am so, so sorry!

“And that’s what you get for giving unsolicited advice.”

Her post struck a chord on the social media site and has since gone viral – garnering more than 78k shares, 699k likes and comments from people saying she was their “hero”.

Jax’s story prompted other women to share of their experiences of intrusive comments from people while they were pregnant.

One person wrote: “A male coworker once said to me as I was eating a McDonald’s cheeseburger and fries, ‘you should eat something healthy, like a salad’.

“I was vegetarian up until my sixth month. I literally hadn’t had McDs in 15+ years. I looked at him as I shoved it in my mouth and said ‘shut up Eric’.”

Another commented: “I remember when I was pregnant I stopped drinking anything with caffeine and I ended up with migraines my ob/gyn doctor told me to get a cup of coffee.”

A third shared: “I had one Diet Coke a day during my entire pregnancy.

“She was born healthy and continues to be healthy and happy and smart 15 years later.

Another noted: “I drank regular coffee through all three pregnancies. My kids are practically perfect. F*** ppls advice! You do you.”

And a fourth added: “Isn’t it amazing how you become everyone’s property when you are preggers.”

Jax agreed: “When you’re pregnant it’s strange enough to lose so much of you body autonomy to the baby, but then everyone else confirms it’s no longer your body as well.

“It’s the worst part about about being pregnant.”
