Here's how much Robert Downey Jr is expected to make from 'Avengers: Endgame'

It’s a lot more than his $10million base salary

Robert Downey Jr is reportedly set to earn over seven times his base salary for Avengers: Endgame.

The actor plays Tony Stark – aka Iron Man – in the latest Marvel Cinematic Universe team-up movie, which was released last week (April 25).

According to The Hollywood Reporter, “multiple knowledgable sources” have said Downey Jr will earn “at least” $75million (£57.5m) for his part, thanks to a “back end” deal.

The star’s contract with Marvel means he receives a base salary of $10million (£7.7m) per film, but also includes substantial profit participation, earning him around 2.5 percent of a film’s profits.

The website claims Downey Jr also received $75million for Avengers: Infinity War. However, Verdict has disputed the figures for both films, estimating that he actually earned around $20million (£15.3m) for Infinity War and will earn approximately the same for Endgame.

Meanwhile, Endgame directors the Russo Brothers have responded to a fan theory about an alternate dimension. Some viewers of the latest film questioned whether Steve Rogers (aka Captain America) jumping back into the Quantum Realm and returning later suggested evidence of an alternate dimension in the MCU.

“Maybe there’s a story there,” Joe Russo said. “There’s a lot of layers built into this movie and we spent three years thinking through it, so it’s fun to talk about it and hopefully fill in holes for people so they understand what we’re thinking.”

NME awarded Avengers: Endgame a five-star review upon its release, calling it “probably the best comic book movie ever”. Reviewer Olly Richards added: “It is an astonishing action movie, with a final hour that keeps ratcheting up the crowd-pleasing sequences in a mega-battle filled with so many characters that we should probably take a moment to give thanks to the poor people who had to coordinate the schedules of countless A-listers.”
