As if we haven’t already had enough Sherlock Holmes adaptations, Henry Cavill is set to join Millie Bobby Brown in a brand new film franchise about the detective.

The actor, who is known for his role as Superman in the DC Universe, will be joining Millie in a series of movies based on The Enola Holmes Mysteries books, written by Nancy Springer.

Henry is poised to play Sherlock Holmes himself, whilst Millie’s role is not yet known.

The actor’s manager, Dany Garcia, confirmed the news on Twitter: ‘Well hello Mr Sherlock Holmes!! The perfect casting for @Legendary’s #EnolaHolmes! Congratulations to #HenryCavill for expanding on the beloved universe of Sherlock Holmes.’

The book series tells the story of the titular teenage sister of Sherlock Holmes, who also happens to be a detective.

There is a total of six novels in the series, so it is likely that six films are also planned.

The first film is tentatively titled Enola Homes.

Jack Thorne has written the upcoming film, with Helena Bonham Carter also set to star as the mother of Enola.

Millie herself will be co-producing the movie, alongside her older sister, Paige Brown, and Legendary Entertainment.

The Stranger Things star has already established a relationship with the film production company, having starred as Madison Russell in the Legendary Entertainment film Godzilla: King of the Monsters, which was released in May.

Asides from starring as the famous detective himself, Henry has also been speculated to be involved in the upcoming Mission Impossible movie.

The 36-year-old has been tipped to star alongside 30 Rock actor Alec Baldwin in a planned seventh film in the Mission Impossible franchise, after previously starring in Mission Impossible: Fallout in 2018.

Director Christopher McQuarrie has been confirmed to return to the film series and is said to be considering both Henry and Alec to star in the franchise’s next installment.

There is also going to be much speculation as to whether or not Henry will continue to star as Superman, having last appeared as the superhero in Justice League in 2017.
