This Morning gave viewers a blast from the past today as former Hear’Say star Noel Sullivan joined Ruth Langsford and Eamonn Holmes on the sofa.
Remember Hear’Say? The Pure and Simple hitmakers are all busy with their careers and Noel, 39, has landed the lead role in the West End production of School of Rock.
‘It is a struggle,’ he admitted when asked about having to gain weight for the role.
Noel has to ‘feed himself up by two stone’ in order to play the lead Dewey Finn in the Andrew Lloyd Webber musical.
Fans of the movie will remember Jack Black portrayed the character are there are references to his weight throughout.
‘In the script, there’s a lot of talk about the teacher being fat and you can’t do it in a fat suit, it would look really weird, wouldn’t it? It’s live!’ he said.
‘It’s a very physical show.’
When asked about having to eventually lose the weight he said he’ll ‘worry about that then’.
‘In the meantime, it’s pizza and pasta for me,’ he laughed.
In the words of Dewey Finn himself: ‘I’m sexy and chubby, man.’
Rock on Noel!
‘It’s a tough one because obviously people know the film and Jack Black is a very specific comedic performer,’ he explained.
‘But they’ve been very good in letting me find my own version of Dewey Finn.’
Elsewhere during his appearance, Noel discussed how his world fell apart after the Hear’Say broke up.
‘It was a crazy, crazy time,’ he said.
‘I just went back to Cardiff and then I found my way into theatre which was my first love.’
This Morning airs weekdays on ITV at 10.30am.
