The track was one of the last Linkin Park released before the frontman’s death
Chester Bennington’s isolated vocal take from Linkin Park track ‘One More Light’ has been released online.
The song featured on the band’s latest album of the same name, which was released two months before the frontman’s death in July 2017.
Stripped of all over layers except some faint backing vocals towards the end of the track, the isolated version appeared on a YouTube channel called Linkin Park songs last month. You can listen to the track below now.
‘One More Light’ was released as a single in October 2017. Since then, Linkin Park have not put out any more new music. Earlier this year, Bennington’s bandmate Mike Shinoda discussed the possibility of recruiting a new vocalist for the band, saying it would have to “happen naturally”.
In 2018, bassist Dave “Phoenix” Farrell suggested that the band could release new music at some point in the future. “We hang out quite a bit,” he said. “I think we will do music again. We all want to. We all still enjoy being together and being around each other.”
Bennington’s vocals appeared on a new track by Lamb Of God’s Mark Morton in January 2019. The singer’s parts for ‘Cross Off’ were recorded a few months before his death.
The frontman died on July 20, 2017. His body was found at his home in Palos Verdes, California and his death was later ruled to be a suicide.
