StreamMetrics, a new startup backed by Harris Blitzer Sports & Entertainment Ventures Database-Link-e1521645463907, today announced the launch of its StreamMetrics Audience Measurement service for providing detailed viewership data about livestreams.

The company’s service pairs data from monthly surveys with that of anonymized network data and details from the Twitch Database-Link-e1521645463907 and YouTube APIs to provide information about viewer demographics and engagement, providing regionally-specific results for leagues, advertisers, sponsors, and other industry stakeholders, according to the company. The service currently works with those two services, with Caffeine Database-Link-e1521645463907, Mixer, and Facebook to be added soon.

StreamMetrics was founded earlier this year, and the San Francisco-based startup’s seed round was led by Harris Blitzer Sports & Entertainment Ventures. The division’s parent company, Harris Blitzer Sports & Entertainment, is also the parent of esports team Dignitas Database-Link-e1521645463907 as well as the NBA’s Philadelphia 76ers and NHL’s New Jersey Devils.

“People are thrilled to finally have access to U.S. viewership measurement data that is cross-platform, rich in demographic viewing insights, and more actionable than global or API-based, Twitch-only numbers,” said SteamMetrics co-founder and CEO Gearoid O’Brien, in a release. “Our superior methodology and proprietary data set enable valuable new insights about this massive audience, including the power to segment audience demographic by game title, tournaments, and other streaming events.”

According to a release, StreamMetrics is positioning itself as a service for those seeking standardized viewership data, as it provides results using traditional advertising metrics, including reach and duration, and is based on an average minute audience (AMA) measurement.

The StreamMetrics Audience Measurement service is currently available for the United States, with additional regions to be added. StreamMetrics plans to launch a Series A funding round beginning in September.
