“We prefer our property not to be used for political purposes”
After the publication of the Mueller report, an investigation into potential meddling by Russia in Donald Trump’s 2016 election campaign, the president decided to mark the occasion, in typical style, with a Twitter meme.
In response to a press conference about the report today (April 18), Trump uploaded a picture of himself overlaid with a Game Of Thrones style font that reads: “No collusion. No obstruction. For the haters and the radical left Democrats – game over.”

Now, HBO have responded to Trump’s appropriation of their Game Of Thrones branding in a statement to The Hollywood Reporter.
“Though we can understand the enthusiasm for Game of Thrones now that the final season has arrived, we still prefer our intellectual property not be used for political purposes,” the broadcaster said.
It’s not the first time Trump has used the hit show for political purposes. In November last year he tweeted a similar picture with the text ‘Sanctions Are Coming’, referring to an international dispute with Iran.
The first episode of Game Of Thrones eighth and final series debuted last weekend. Earlier today, it was revealed that Star Wars creator George Lucas helped out on the first episode.
In our review of the season premiere, NME called first episode ‘Winterfell’ “a solid return for the show, albeit one largely taken up with housekeeping.”
