Hasbro FurReal Cubby the Curious Bear selling for more than DOUBLE the price on Amazon and eBay

PARENTS hoping to snap-up a popular, animated toy bear for their kids at Christmas are having to stump up more than double the price for it on Amazon and eBay.

Hasbro’s “FurReal Cubby the Curious Bear” has been tipped to be one of the top toys this Christmas.

John Lewis, Smyths, and Very were all selling the interactive plush toy for £69.99, while it was £70 at Argos.

But it’s now sold out at major retailers, including the four listed above, and the toys are instead being sold for a lot more money on Amazon and eBay.

On Amazon, third party sellers are listing the toy as new from £122.99, plus £10 delivery – that’s almost twice the price you’d have paid elsewhere.

We even found one retailer selling the toy for a whopping £159.99, plus £10 delivery, on Amazon – that’s more than double its original price.

Even to buy it secondhand would set you back from £101.90, plus £2.99 delivery – that’s over £30 more than you’d have paid elsewhere for a brand new version.

On eBay, third party sellers are listing the toy for £55 more than most other retailers at £124.99, plus free delivery if you buy it now.

While on auction it’s being sold for up to £82 brand new.

It’s not the first time sold out toys have appeared online for more than their face value.

In November, Aldi’s sell-out Kevin the Carrot toys were being sold on eBay for up to £1,000 hours after going on sale at the discounter for £3.99.

The Sun has contacted Amazon and eBay and we’ll update this story if we get a response.

If you were planning to buy Cubby for little ones’ Christmas presents, you might want to hold off until other retailers get in more stock.

Smyths says it’s expecting stock between December 15 and 20, while Littlewoods expects stock from December 21 – although it’s charging a pricier £79.99, with free delivery.

Neither Argos, John Lewis, or Very say if and when they’re expecting more stock.

You could also consider a different interactive Fur Real toy instead, such as Plum the Panda, which is £68.85 with free delivery for Amazon Prime users.

Prime membership costs £79 a year or £7.99 a month.

Dream Toys top Christmas presents for 2019 include LOL Surprise and Frozen 2.
