Harvey Elliott scores ridiculous overhead kick for Liverpool U23s at Wolves


Harvey Elliott scored a spectacular overhead kick from a corner as the 16-year-old continues to knock on the door of Liverpool’s first team.

While Liverpool’s senior stars were in action at West Ham, winning 2-0 to extend their lead at the top of the Premier League, Elliott was playing for the under-23s.

And the teenager fired in a stunning equaliser to secure a 2-2 draw against Wolves at Molineux.

Wolves’ youngsters had led 2-0, but January signing Joe Hardy pulled a goal back for the Reds.

And just a minute later, Elliott showed just why Liverpool signed him from Fulham last summer.

As a Liverpool corner was floated into the box, Elliott had found himself in space and connected perfectly with an overhead bicycle kick, with the trajectory of the shot leaving the Wolves keeper helpless.

The equaliser ensure Liverpool qualified for the quarter-finals of the under-23s Premier League International Cup, and will no doubt have caught the eye of Reds boss Klopp.

It certainly made fans sit up and take notice, with plenty on Twitter calling for the youngster to be promoted to Liverpool’s senior squad.

Despite his tender years, Elliott has already found his way into Liverpool’s first team this season.

He has made three starts in the EFL Cup and two in the FA Cup – with the latest in Sunday’s 2-2 draw against Shrewsbury Town.

Elliott is likely to get the chance to shine again in next Tuesday replay against the Shrews.

Klopp has said that neither he nor Liverpool’s first-team stars will be there as he has already granted his senior squad a week’s holiday during the Premier League’s winter break.
