Tottenham Hotspur and England midfielder Harry Winks will miss the remainder of the 2018/19 season after undergoing groin surgery.

The 23-year-old midfielder sustained the injury during the Champions League quarter-final first leg with Manchester City at the beginning of April and has been absent since.

“Harry Winks has today (Monday 29 April) undergone groin surgery,” the club said in a short statement on Monday.

“The England midfielder will be monitored by our medical staff as he continues his recovery before commencing rehabilitation.”

Winks will miss Tottenham’s Champions League semi-final against Ajax as well as England’s Nations League campaign in the summer.

He has made 40 appearances for Tottenham this season, as well as winning two England caps.
