Harry Styles has finally released his second album, Fine Line, but he compared the process of creating new music to childbirth.

The Watermelon Sugar star, 25, told Kiss Breakfast with Tom & Daisy: ‘It’s a little bittersweet because you live with it for so long and it feels like it’s yours. Then you start giving it away.

‘That’s the most exciting part, having people hear it for the first time. It’s fun. I assume the pain’s not the same, but it feels a little like giving birth.’

Harry also revealed that his sister was one of the few people who got to hear the album before it was completed, admitting: ‘My sister heard some stuff pretty early on. She came by the studio… I hate playing stuff before it’s finished.’

While he might not want anyone to hear anything but the final mix, Harry admitted he felt better about creating his second album after the success of his self-titled debut record.

He explained: ‘I felt better this time going into it I think. With the first one… it was my first album out of the band, I think I was quite scared about getting it wrong.

‘So when I listen to it now there are a lot of places where I can kind of hear… it almost feels like I was bowling with the sides up a little bit.

‘Going into the second one I felt very free to go make what I wanted to do, and if it sounded fun, it sounded fun. I felt like I took the bumpers down, if you will.’

Once Fine Line is released on 13 December, Harry will be enjoying Christmas at home – and he’s planning to make the most of his time off.

He revealed: ‘I’ll be home for Christmas and I’m very excited about it actually. You know when you’re a kid and you’re up at 5am and you’re waiting for your parents to wake up? Now I sleep until someone wakes me up.’

Listen to KISS Breakfast with Tom & Daisy weekdays from 6am.
