Harry Redknapp thinks Pep Guardiola will believe ‘deep down’ that winning the Premier League title race is ‘impossible’ after Manchester City slipped up against Wolverhampton Wanderers on Friday night.

Ten-man City were 2-0 up against the Midlands outfit after two strikes from Raheem Sterling, but Adama Traore and Raul Jiminez pegged Guardiola’s men back before Matt Doherty scored with one minute of normal time left on the clock to secure a memorable 3-2 win.

After Liverpool thrashed Leicester on Boxing Day, the result leaves defending champions City 14 points behind last year’s runners-up, with Liverpool also boasting a game in hand that could stretch that gap to 17 points.

Former Tottenham Hotspur manager Redknapp is convinced the title race is over and suspects Guardiola feels exactly the same, with Jurgen Klopp on course to deliver Liverpool’s first Premier League title.

Redknapp told Amazon Prime: ‘He knows it’s all over, he can’t say it can he?

‘He knows it’s all over but he can’t come out publically, you can’t say it. How does his team react to that? He can’t ever say that.

‘”While it’s still possible we’ll keep going”, that’s the message he’s got to give out.

‘Deep down in his heart he knows Liverpool are not going to give up a lead like they’ve got at the moment, it’s impossible.’
