Harry Redknapp has revealed his beloved wife Sandra is ‘not very well’, after she fell with sepsis last year.

The couple have been married for 52 years, and Harry, 72, has been calling Sandra, also 72, eight times a day to check up on her.

The king of the jungle told AOL Build: ‘She hasn’t been particularly well. We have been to a specialist in London.

‘I have rung her eight times today just to see how she is.’

After being crowned the winner of the 2018 series of I’m A Celebrity… Get Me Out Of Here!, Harry admitted that he nearly quit due to Sandra being in hospital before he flew to Australia.

He said: ‘She’s been ill with the sepsis and it’s knocked her for six. Sandra was in and out of hospital but she wanted to come over to Australia.

‘I was worried about her coming, I didn’t know if it was going to be too much for her.’

However, Sandra was on top form when she flew Down Under, and even entered the jungle to visit her husband.

The Redknapps have been together since they were both 17 years old, and their relationship was the real star of I’m A Celeb last year, with viewers in tears as ‘Arry talked about his dream woman.

Speaking to Fleur East, Sair Khan and Noel Edmonds, Harry said: ‘Honestly, she’s my life. I’m a bit scared actually. Seriously i think when you get older, like I do with Sandra, I do love her too much and if anything happened it would just kill me. I really couldn’t.’

When asked about what the secret is to the success is, he said: ‘We just get on so well. I only want to be with her. Saturday nights we go out, something to eat. I can never wait to see her!’

Harry and Sandra met in in 1963 when they were both 17 and attending a Sunday disco at the Two Puddings in Stratford.

Speaking to John Barrowman, the former Tottenham Hotspur manager said: ‘Me and my mate Macca, he was a goal keeper for West Ham, saw these two lovely girls and I said to Macca, “shall we have a dance with those two?”

‘Macca is a good looking geezer and I look back on it now and think Sandra must have seen us both coming over and thought “I hope I ain’t got him”… and she went for me, 54 years later we’re still going strong.

The couple went on to have two children together – Mark, in 1970, and footballer Jamie, born in 1973. Jamie is dad to Harry’s grandsons Beau and Charlie, who he had with ex-wife Louise Redknapp.

Over five decades of marriage have gone pretty blissfully for the Redknapps – bar that infamous time Harry literally ran over his wife.

He told Nick Knowles: ‘I used to think I was a good driver but I had a nightmare and ran over my wife one day.

‘She got out the car and I thought she’d crossed the road and I pulled forward and she fell into the road and a bus stopped literally yards away and the most amazing part of the story probably, my grand-daughter is sitting on top of the bus and sees all of this. Unreal.’

The freak accident occurred in 2016, with Sandra being rushed to hospital to have surgery on her ankle, which, thankfully, was a success.
