Murray, who played Seamus Finnegan in the eight-part film franchise based on JK Rowling’s books, told his Instagram followers that he and girlfriend Shannon McCaffrey Quinn are expecting a baby due next year.”
Sharing a photo of an ultrasound scan and a grey babygrow outfit, he wrote: “Baby Murray – 14th of January 2021.”
Murray, 31, previously revealed that he and McCaffrey Quinn started dating in late 2018.
His Harry Potter co-stars were quick to share their congratulations at the happy news, with Evanna Lynch, who played Luna Lovegood in the film series, writing: “Awwww congratulations Dev!! So happy for you!
“You’re going to be such a fun dad.”
Scarlett Hefner, who played Draco Malfoy’s friend Pansy Parkinson, wrote: “Congratulations Dev!! So exciting.”
James Phelps, who played Fred Weasley, said: “Great news mate. Huge congratulations x.”
Afshan Azad-Kazi, who starred as Padma Patil in Harry Potter and the Goblet of Fire, wrote “Omg incredible news.”
She then joked “You can share clothes with the baba (I had to!)” prompting Murray to reply: “I’d expect nothing other than this message from you. On a serious note…….you reckon I’d pull off a onesie?”
Since his final appearance as Potter’s classmate Finnegan in Harry Potter and the Deathly Hallows: Part II, Murray appears to have stepped back from the spotlight and moved away from acting.
His most recent role was an uncredited appearance in Damo and Ivor: The Movie in 2018.
Murray’s Potter co-star Rupert Grint recently welcomed a daughter with his actor girlfriend Georgia Groome.
