Harry Potter obsessed mum has largest collection of memorabilia

A Harry Potter superfan has broken the Guinness World Record for having the largest collection of Wizarding World memorabilia.

Mum of three Victoria Maclean, 39, from Neath, South Wales, says it took her 18 years to gather the staggering 3,686 pieces she has in her home.

They include her favourite and rarest item – a 24-carat gold-plated golden snitch puzzle from Japan.

She told Guinness World Records adjudicators: “I think it came out around the time as Chamber of Secrets. Five thousand of them were made and to get hold of that took me about six months.

“But don’t take it apart, because it’s really hard to put back together!”

Ms Maclean says her obsession with J.K. Rowling’s Harry Potter and Fantastic Beasts started when she was 21, when she read the first book from the series, Harry Potter and the Philosopher’s Stone in 2001, four years after it was published.

Since then, she’s gone on to collect everything in sight.

Verifying her collection was a painstaking procedure for Guinness World Records.

They had to carefully count each piece and photograph them before handing her with a certificate to say she had officially broken the world record.

The previous record was held by Menahem Asher Silva Vargas from Mexico City, Mexico, since 5 November 2013.

He says his favourite item is a circular wall ornament that contains a photo of Harry in the Chamber of Secrets, given to him by his mother as a gift for Children’s Day.
