Harry Potter author JK Rowling mucks in to sell T-shirts at husband's pub gig

She might be world famous and worth more than £700million but that didn’t stop JK Rowling from mucking in and selling T-shirts at her husband’s pub gig.

The Harry Potter author has been so supportive of hubby Dr Neil Murray and his band Fat Cops that she regularly joins him on gig nights.

Pub Landlord Al Murray, who plays drums in the band alongside Bobby Bluebell and journalists Chris Deerin and Euan McColm , said: “JK Rowling has come to a few shows and a few shows ago was on the merch stand.

“It’s the craziest thing. She’s prepared to muck in. The really cool thing about this band is that the people that are in it all muck in and create a peculiar picture.”

He added: “What’s great about this band is that it fell into place by accident, then it evolved and we saw if we could make a record and that worked and then we did some shows and now it’s meandering and sort of doing its own thing.”

JK was spotted in front of the stage recently bopping away to the band alongside Still Game’s Greg Hemphill and Outlander’s Iain Robertson at their Glasgow’s Admiral bar gig and happily posed for a selfie in her Fat Cops T-shirt.

Neil who plays keyboard with the band admitted backstage at the bands Nordoff Robbins gig in Glasgow’s Garage this week that he was thrilled to be in the group.

Neil, looking cool in a pair of shades, said he loved playing in the band and was looking forward to gigging with The Happy Mondays on the Scottish leg of their tour, from October 23 to 26.
