Harry Kane to RETURN from injury for Ajax Champions League tie? Lucas Moura reveals 'hope'

Harry Kane has just started running indoors as he continues the long rehabilitation of his ankle ligaments after suffering a recurrence of his old injury in the first leg of the Champions League quarter-final against Manchester City.

Son then picked up a yellow card in the second leg, meaning under UEFA’ s totting up procedure he must sit out this game – although he will be available again for the return in Amsterdam next Wednesday.

Between them, the pair have scored nine of the goals which have helped Tottenham get this far in the tournament – more than the rest of the squad put together.

But Moura, who has two to his own name, said: “I don’t care who scores, I just hope we win.

“The most important is that we work together and always give the ball to the player who is in the best position to score.

“We need to play like a family, to be like a family. If we win this competition everyone will be happy and I don’t care who scores.

“For me the most important thing is that we win. Son is a very, very good player and of course we will miss him.

“But we have other players that can do a good job and we have a very good squad. We are ready to play, to give our best.

“To have [Son] in the second game and I hope Harry Kane as well will recover quickly.”

Not quickly enough for that second leg, though, the Tottenham hierarchy were quick to point out.

“[Kane is] doing well,” manager Mauricio Pochettino said. “He’s working, starting to run a little bit inside.

“His rehab is so good but we cannot create any ideas that afterwards we cannot maybe achieve.

“The most important thing is he’s good and in a good place, so focused and we see what happens, we assess him every day. We are happy but we will see.”

When the second leg specifically was mentioned, Tottenham assistant manager Jesus Perez, sat alongside Pochettino, shook his head.

“No chance Jesus?” the Tottenham boss said. “Jesus says no chance!”

The second leg of Tottenham’s tie with Ajax will be sandwiched between their final Premier League fixtures of the season against Bournemouth and Everton.
