Harry Kane injury: Why Tottenham beating Man City may be Spurs’ WORST match of the season

Harry Kane hobbled out of Tottenham’s win over Manchester City and now leaves Spurs sweating on his fitness for the rest of the campaign.

It was a huge night for Mauricio Pochettino and his team, with Spurs defying the odds to beat City 1-0 courtesy of Son Heung-Min’s goal.

Kane’s injury has soured the evening, though, with Tottenham now fretting on the fitness of their talisman.

The England international has, perhaps, not been his usual self this season. A tiring World Cup with his country is the reason why.

But Tottenham need Kane and, if the injury rules him out for the rest of the campaign, it will make the City win feel pointless.

Even if they do beat City in the return leg to progress, Mauricio Pochettino’s side are reliant on their talisman.

They still have some big games to come amid their fight to finish in the top four.

A Premier League showdown with City at the Etihad looks tricky. With Pep Guardiola’s side gunning for title glory, they cannot afford for lightning to strike twice.

West Ham will be difficult, too. The Hammers won’t want to lose another London derby this season.

And Everton on the final day may pose problems.

Manchester United, Arsenal and Chelsea will all be looking at Tottenham, now without Kane, and fancying their chances of pipping them to a top four finish.

The England international may yet be fit and may have been forced from the clash as a precaution.

But, without Kane, Tottenham lose their fear factor.

Earlier in the season, when the Three Lions hitman was injured, Spurs’ form went off the boil.

Son is a key player but works best as a foil to Kane, rather than as a direct replacement.

And the Fernando Llorente of 2019, not the Fernando Llorente of years gone by, will not leave defenders quaking in fear.
