Harry Dunn crash: Parents set to meet Foreign Secretary Dominic Raab today

THE devastated parents of Harry Dunn will today meet Foreign Secretary Dominic Raab – after he begged America to send his alleged killer home.

Charlotte Charles and Tim Dunn will meet the Foreign Secretary at 4pm today to discuss the tragic case of their 19-year-old who was killed outside RAF Croughton back in August.

A US diplomat’s wife is set to be charged over Harry’s crash death, but she has now flown back to the US.

American Anne Sacoolas, 42, allegedly smashed into 19-year-old Harry’s motorbike while driving her Volvo on the wrong side of the road on August 27.

The mum of three was spoken to the day after the death crash outside US intelligence hub RAF Croughton, Northants, where her husband Jonathan works as a spy.

But cops had an application to waive her diplomatic immunity rejected and Mrs Sacoolas then fled the country, back to the US. Northamptonshire Police have now passed a file to the CPS to decide on whether to prosecute her for causing death by dangerous driving.

Boris is expected to speak to US President Donald Trump about the matter in the next 24 hours.

He has said already that it is “not right” the American citizen can be allowed to return to the US without facing justice.

“I hope Anne Sacoolas will come back and engage properly with the processes of law as they are carried out in this country,” he said earlier this week.

Last night Mr Raab met with the US Ambassador to hammer home the case – and beg the US to reconsider and send her to the UK to find out what happened.

The Foreign Office said last night: The Foreign Secretary met the US Ambassador today and urged the US to reconsider its position and do the right thing by Harry Dunn’s family.”

Harry’s Dad Tim told local paper the Northampton Chronicle that his family were being kept in the dark about what had happened.

He said the past week had been a “whirlwind” for him and stressed that he just wants the truth about his son’s death.

“We know the ambulance took 50 minutes to get there.

“I just want to know if she went to comfort my son.

“It pains me to think my son was lying there for 50 minutes – his arms broken, legs broken, pelvis broken – lying in a ditch.”

And he stressed: “

We believe she is not entitled to the immunity. Diplomatic immunity is there to protect diplomats if they are in danger.

“She was never in danger – she was driving on the wrong side of the road.

“For the first few days after the accident, we were confident that it would almost be straightforward. The police told us she said she wouldn’t leave the country, that she admitted it was her fault, and the CCTV showed she was on the wrong side of the road.”

Tim said: “Hopefully Dominic will be able to put us in the picture as to what’s going on.

“We are as much in the dark as everyone else. We know as much as what’s in the papers.

“You wouldn’t believe how much of this has felt like smoke and mirrors. The US Secretary of State and the US Embassy have been silent. We’ve not had heard a word. No letter, no phone call – not a word from Croughton base.”

Harry’s mum Charlotte Charles, 44, on Tuesday vowed to confront Donald Trump in Washington over the matter. Speaking on ITV’s This Morning, she added: “We won’t stop. We will go over to Washington if we have to. We’ve taken advice from a lawyer on that.

“We will plead with President Trump to look at the laws, look at diplomatic immunity, and hopefully realise it is there to protect diplomats and their families when they are in danger . . . not when they commit such a serious crime as this.”

A crowdfunding page to support the family had already passed its £10,000 target on Tuesday night.
