Harry Connick Jr: ‘Still get chills thinking about it’ Star recalls key moment with wife

Award-winning actor and singer Harry Connick Jr, 52, and Jill Goodacre, 55, who married in 1994, have three daughters together.

Despite their children now being grown up, the star admitted he still gets “chills” thinking about the first time he was told he was going to be a dad.

In an interview with The Big Issue, he said: “I still get chills thinking about that feeling. It was the most amazing feeling in the world.

“I look at my kids now… they say to me, ‘You’re our father, you made us’. Isn’t that the coolest thing, isn’t that the best?”

He added: “You hope to raise children to become amazing people.

“So now that I have three of them and they’re still interested in what I have to say and I’ve become dependent on what they have to say… it’s a miracle.”

Harry and Jill, a former Victoria Secrets model, are parents to; Georgia, 23, Sarah, 22, Charlotte, 17.

This year, he celebrated his 25th anniversary with his spouse.

The P.S. I Love You actor recently revealed the secret to their long-lasting marriage in an interview with Fox News.

He said: “It’s all about my maintaining interest in her.

“I mean, she’s fascinating to me, she’s still mysterious to me, I’m still very interested in her, and everything that sort of makes her tick, and I think it’s mutual.”

Back in 2012, Harry admitted he feared losing his spouse after she was diagnosed with breast cancer.

Following a test, Jill was diagnosed with stage one invasive ductal carcinoma.

Speaking of her diagnosis, Harry told People: “I was scared I was going to lose her, absolutely. I wasn’t going to let her see that, but I was.”

Following a five-year battle with the disease, Jill is now in remission.

She added: “I’ll always be a little nervous, always having to get checked, always hoping it doesn’t come back.”

Elsewhere, Harry will release his new album True Love: a Celebration of Cole Porter later this month.

The singer will perform his song Anything Goes on Strictly Come Dancing 2019 tonight.

Strictly Come Dancing continues tonight at 7.15pm on BBC One.
