Hangar 13 will present the ‘Outstanding Contributor’ category at tomorrow’s MCV Women in Games Awards 2019

The MCV Women in Games Awards returns for a 5th year running tomorrow. And this year we’re pleased to announce that developer Hangar 13, with its UK Brighton studio, is supporting the event and will be presenting our Outstanding Contributor award.

Unlike our other categories there is no shortlist for this particular award; the winner will instead be announced on the day.

Hangar 13 – a “diverse group of people from industry veterans to talented former indie entrepreneurs and recent graduates ” – is the internal 2K development studio behind the award-winning Mafia III. The team says it prides itself on the creation of games with great narrative and unique player stories and has “a collective hunger” to work with the latest technology.

Nick Baynes, Hangar 13

Hangar 13 general manager, Nick Baynes, said: “Hangar 13 are proud to be supporting the MCV Women in Games Awards 2019. Over the last five years MCV have done a great job shining the spotlight on the women in the games industry making a difference. Diversity is so important in the games industry and celebrating the successes of these inspirational women is a great tool for attracting and encouraging the future generation of female developers.

“At Hangar 13 we believe that the more diverse our teams, the more believable and immersive the experiences we create can be. We strive to make our studio a welcoming place for developers of all backgrounds, gender and sexual orientation. Congratulations to all of this year’s winners, and to all the women in the video game industry – this is a celebration of all of you!”

Following on from last year’s brilliantly-received event, we’re once again working in partnership with Facebook on the awards, with the company hosting us once again at their London office. You can now head to the MCV Women in Games Awards website for the 2019 shortlist and further details on the event.
