Hand luggage: The ONE ordinary kitchen item that protects your entire baggage on a flight

Flight firms regularly change their luggage restrictions, in guidelines which keep Britons on their toes when it comes to savvy packing. More often than not, the switch up in guidelines for firms such as Ryanair and easyJet mean travellers will have less space to accommodate their belongs if they take their bag into the cabin. With high costs for putting luggage in the hold, many travellers tend to swerve the fees for a cheaper trip.  Those who leave packing until the last minute might also find the rules all the more difficult to adhere to – particularly if they are getting themselves ready at the same time.

Experts at MyBaggage.com have revealed a simple trick, involving an everyday kitchen item, which will help travellers protect their goods, particularly in a carry-on bag.

They told Express.co.uk: “Pack straighteners or other hair tools in an oven mitt.

“It’ll protect them and everything else if they’re still a little warm.”

If the irons are still hot while in the case, there is a danger they could singe clothing, melt cosmetics bags or even burn through the suitcase itself.

While a mitt might seem pretty chunky, it could prove essential in preserving travellers’ items.

The website offered additional advice about protecting good in transit, and stated: “Avoid broken bottles of perfume by putting them inside your packed shoes or in a sock for extra padding.”

It added: “Place all your heavy items by the wheels of your case. When you stand it up, they’ll be at the bottom.”

A spokesperson from My Baggage.com said: “Packing your case and only taking what you actually need is a real art.

“It’s too easy to over pack and chuck everything you could possibly want into your case – only to bring it back home unworn and full of creases.

“Instead, plan ahead, make a list and only take what you need.

“Easy tips like taking small travel sized bottles of your favourite shampoo and conditioner is an obvious one and taking face cream in compact contact lens cases.

“Other advice helps you transport things safely and without damage.

“Wrapping heating tools in an oven mitt protects them and surrounding items in your case and earrings in a button means no lost backs.”
