Halle Berry suffers an injury during a fight scene on the set of her MMA thriller Bruised

Halle Berry suffered an injury while filming her new mixed martial arts (MMA) movie Bruised on Monday, which has slightly delayed filming.

NJ.com revealed production was slated to take place on Monday, but the shoot had to be rescheduled due to the 53 year old actress suffering an injury during a fight scene.

Executive producer Brian Pitt wouldn’t say what the injury Berry suffered was, but made it clear that it was, ‘nothing serious.’

‘Halle got slightly injured in the fight,’ Pitt said in an interview. ‘She’s tired. She needed a break.’

Filming had been scheduled to take place at Mack’s Elite Heat Boxing Gym on Monday, lasting all week, with a sign on the gym reading ‘Gym closed till 12/2/19. Do not enter!’

After the injury, producers rescheduled the gym scenes for another time, and while it’s not known when the gym scenes would be shot, he said filming will resume Friday, though locations would be shuffled.

‘Occasionally what’s going to happen is an actor might get a little injured, and we might adjust scheduling around them a little bit,’ Pitt said.

‘We are in the process of just moving things around for actor availability,’ Pitt says, adding that the possibility of injuries in a film about MMA is always a possibility.

Filming took place last week in Atlantic City, with other locations scouted in Trenton and Camden, New Jersey.

Bruised also marks Berry’s directorial debut, while starring as Jackie Justice, a disgraced MMA fighter, gearing up to face one of the sport’s rising stars.

She must also conquer her personal demons when the son she abandoned when he was just six years old returns to her.

Berry has been sharing her fitness progress while filming the movie, sharing photos and videos of her ripped abs since Bruised started filming.

Berry is coming off her role as Sofia, the dog-loving assassin who helps Keanu Reeves’ title character in John Wick 3: Parabellum, which debuted in May.

She is also attached to star in a remake of the 1985 thriller Jagged Edge, which starred Jeff Bridges and Glenn Close. 

The actress also produced the TV adaptation of the 1992 film Boomerang, which has been renewed for a second season.
