Top hairstylists say this year is all about embracing our natural hair texture and to be honest, we’re completely relieved because our beloved hair straighteners are leaving our ends frazzled (and we’re just really rather lazy).
“Embracing your natural curly texture is a top trend for Spring 2020,” declares Brent Barlow of Klub Salon.
“Forget fighting your hair, it’s all about working, and enhancing, what you have for a naturally beautiful look.”
Brent is dubbing the relaxed look ‘the cool girl curl card’; think natural beachy waves a la Blake Lively with a touch of toughness.
“We are finally stepping away from over-groomed hair and embracing our natural texture, which is why ‘the cool girl curl card’ is the ideal look for Spring.”
Brent also maintains that the look is a suits-all style because it complements the more natural colour trends that are so on trend right now. “Natural texture, paired with contrast in lighter and darker tones helps show off the movement in the hair,” he adds.

How to get the look
- When opting for a curly look it’s really important to communicate with your stylist, to decide on the desired look and whether it works with your natural texture. They can then tailor the finished style by using an array of cutting and finishing techniques.
- When styling at home it’s important to start with wet hair using your hair dryer with a diffuser on a high heat/ low speed setting.
