Gwen Stefani and Blake Shelton’s relationship timeline as The Voice stars get engaged

After five loving years together, Blake Shelton and Gwen Stefani are an engaged couple.

Fans might be forgiven for thinking the couple had already tied the knot considering just how loved up they have been in recent years.

But Blake finally got down on one knee to ask his longtime girlfriend to be his wife and the pair shared the happy news with fans on Instagram today.

So we’re taking a look back at how The Voice coaches met, fell in love and proceeded to make lots of sweet music together.

How did Gwen and Blake meet

The singer first met when Gwen replaced Christina Aguilera as a coach on The Voice in 2014.

At the time, they were both married to other people, however both relationship came to an end in the years to follow.

Gwen has since admitted that she had no clue who Blake was before she joined The Voice.

When Blake and Gwen started dating

Blake was previously married to Kaynette Gern until 2006, and he later tied the knot with music star Miranda Lambert before they divorced in 2015.

While Gwen was previously married to Gavin Rossdale, with whom she shares three sons – Kingston, Apollo and Zuma.

Their marriage also ended in 2015, meaning both Gwen and Blake were single when they reunite to work together on The Voice.

And after several flirty performances around October 2015, the couple confirmed they were an item.

A rep for the Don’t Speak singer confirmed the news to US Weekly after the pair were seen cuddling up at Adam Levine’s Halloween party.

‘Gwen and Blake are longtime friends who have very recently started dating,’ the spokesperson said.

When Gwen and Blake began making music together

The pair debuted their romantic duet Go Ahead and Break My Heart on an episode of The Voice in 2016.

Then they got into the holiday spirit with a special performance of You Make It Feel Like Christmas, the year after.

Gwen has released several singles with Blake since, including Nobody But You, which reached number 18 on the Billboard Hot 100 earlier this year.

Gwen and Blake finally get engaged

The couple revealed the happy news on October 27 as the No Doubt singer shared a snap of herself kissing her husband-to-be with her hand in the air, showing off a ring.

She wrote in the caption: ‘@blakeshelton yes please! 💍🙏🏻 gx.’

While Blake also shared the same snap on his page, and wrote: ‘Hey @gwenstefani thanks for saving my 2020… And the rest of my life.. I love you. I heard a YES!’
