GTA 6 release date NEWS: Grand Theft Auto boost for PS4 and Xbox One fans?

GTA 6 release date news today includes what could be a big Grand Theft Auto boost for PS4 and Xbox One fans.

Recently a brand new GTA 6 leak has emerged offering a tonne of potential details about the next Grand Theft Auto game.

It has been claimed that GTA 6 will be set in Vice City (as per other leaks) as well as, for the first time, a new location based on Rio de Janeiro.

The leak, which emerged on Reddit, also claimed that GTA 6 will be set in the 70s/80s and will feature just one playable protagonist that’s a man.

The GTA 6 ‘leak’ also claimed that the next Grand Theft Auto will feature a drug empire building mechanic similar to the one seen in Vice City Stories.

The latest GTA 6 ‘leak’ was extremely detailed, and offered plenty of exciting possible details about the next Grand Theft Auto title.

But in a blow to PS4 and Xbox One owners, it was claimed that GTA 6 will only have a release date on next-gen formats such as the PS5 and Xbox Scarlett.

However, in the aftermath of this ‘leak’ emerging GTA 6 fans still hoping for a PS4 and Xbox One release may have been given a boost.

It has been claimed that the recent GTA 6 leak is a fake, according to Kotaku journalist Jason Schreier.

If that’s the case then it could cast doubt on the claims about GTA 6 skipping the PS4 and Xbox One for next-gen consoles.

Schreier tweeted a link to the Reddit page outlining the GTA 6 ‘leak’ alongside the message: “A good rule of thumb is that if a video game leak is a giant list of incredible-sounding bullet points, it’s fake”.

The latest GTA 6 leak was penned by a Redditor called JackOLantern1982 who has been responding to claims the leak is fake.

The Redditor posted: “All my details are from two sources from Kotaku and PC GAMER former employees.

“My friend, who works at Rockstar himself, has not given me a single detail about anything.

“But the fact he was so coy about it, made me believe these two sources were true.

“Plus the two sources weren’t connected so it’d be one hell of a coincidence if it wasn’t true. Eh.”

It remains to be seen when Rockstar Games will reveal more on the next game in the Grand Theft Auto series.

But Take-Two, the parent company of Rockstar Games, did recently tease that they had their “strongest development pipeline ever.

Strauss Zelnick said this included sequels from his firm’s “biggest franchises”, and Grand Theft Auto is the most popular of them all.

In a recent earnings call CEO Zelnick said: “We have the strongest development pipeline in our history, including sequels from our biggest franchises, along with exciting new IP.”
