If you went to an Indian wedding and there wasn’t much fanfare, then you probably didn’t go to an Indian wedding.

Such is the extravagance of (most) Asian weddings.

And behold, the grandest of them all.

At the nuptials of American dancers Akaash Yadav and Gaganpreet Singh, the groom didn’t just arrive for the baraat (the groom side’s wedding procession) on a decked-out horse, oh no.

Akaash took to the skies and jumped out of an aircraft as his 500 guests watched on.

He landed in style before entering the lush Los Cabos venue, in Mexico, where his bride awaited him.

And photographer Zohaib Ali told Metro.co.uk it was the biggest wedding to be held at the resort.

Initially, Akaash had planned to arrive by boat but wasn’t able to for legal reasons. So he went for the aerial route.

‘I smiled and looked at my planners and said “if I can’t come by sea then I’ll come by sky”,’ he told Indian Express. ‘They laughed and when it quieted down, I said, “No, I’m serious”. And the rest is history.’

Thankfully it wasn’t the first time Akaash went skydiving but with a storm looming on the day, even he had some doubts.

But luckily, the skies were clear as the groom descended, making for one pretty badass entrance.

‘Akaash is a dancer/actor based out in the US and had his wedding in the new Hard Rock Hotel Los Cabos,’ photographer Zohaib told Metro.co.uk.

‘The wedding was one of the biggest to be held at the resort. Being in the profession he is in and the type of person he is he wanted to make his entrance in style and he did just that.

‘We had to coordinate the dive, with not only us being ready but also the 500 Indians during the baraat.

‘Plus we had no contact with the groom after he took the plunge. So we literally were left to look up and anticipate his jump.’

Akaash was scheduled to make the jump a little after noon but with the approaching storm, he was advised to jump a little earlier.

Zohaib added: ‘That was a little nervewracking for all but it all worked out in the end.’

Akaash and Gaganpreet exchanged vows in a Hindu ceremony in Mexico and will be heading back to California for a reception.

We can only guess how Akaash is going to enter that one.
