Green light for Scotland’s largest detailed planning consent

Springfield Properties has been granted outline planning permission by Stirling Council for its 3,000-home Durieshill village in what is believed to be the largest detailed planning application to have been approved in Scotland.

The developer said the £650 million project will include a mix of private, affordable and rented homes, alongside primary and secondary schools and a care home. It will take around 20 years to complete the 650-acre site, with work expected to get underway in 2022.

Innes Smith, chief executive at Springfield, said: “This will be our fourth village development and this consent is an important milestone in the delivery on our strategy. Our villages are designed to accelerate the provision of the many new homes needed across Scotland as well as provide everything a community needs to flourish.”

News of the project comes a day after Springfield delivered a trading update in which it said it expects to post an improvement in its profit margin when it unveils its interim results on 25 February. The Elgin-based company was founded in 1956 and joined the Alternative Investment Market (AIM) in 2017.
