Granit Xhaka wants to leave Arsenal in the next 72 hours as he targets a move to Bundesliga club Hertha Berlin.

The Swiss midfielder has made it clear to the Gunners that he wants to leave the club after a disastrous campaign in north London.

Xhaka joined the club in a £34m deal from Borussia Monchengladbach in 2016 but he’s failed to live up to expectations, despite being made club captain last summer.

The midfielder told supporters to ‘f**k off’ after he was jeered following his substitution in a 2-2 draw with Crystal Palace in October and the incident has convinced Xhaka that he has no future at the club.

Hertha Berlin have made a loan bid with an obligation to buy Xhaka at the end of the season for a fee of around £25m and the Bundesliga club are hopeful that Arsenal will accept.

The Times claim Xhaka is desperate to complete the move by Friday because the club are set to embark on a winter training trip that weekend and the midfielder wants to be part of the travelling party.

Xhaka was left out of Arsenal’s squad for the defeat to Chelsea with the club claiming that he was ill.

Arteta is keen on keeping Xhaka but the club have nevertheless been searching for a replacement.
