A grandma-of-six who ran away with her pregnant daughter’s boyfriend has defended her actions, insisting ‘these things happen’.
Heartbroken Jess Aldridge, 24, revealed how partner Ryan Shelton, 29, had cheated with her mum, Georgina, 44, describing the affair as ‘the ultimate betrayal’.
But the couple – who have boasted about being in a relationship on Facebook – insist they are in love and ‘don’t care’ what others think.
Jess returned home from hospital after giving birth to their second child, only to learn Ryan and her mum had moved in to her sister’s house, 30 miles away.
Now the couple are said to be planning to find their own place together – and they insist they don’t care about other people’s opinions.
When confronted, Georgina told The Sun: ‘These things happen’.
Ryan added: ‘I am in love with Georgina and I don’t care who knows it. Other people’s opinions don’t bother me at all. I know what’s happened.
‘There are two sides to every story and I know the truth behind all of this.’
The affair started when heavily pregnant Jess and Ryan moved in Georgina and her husband, Eric, 56, to form a support bubble in Stow-on-the-Wold, Gloucestershire.
Jess hoped Georgina would help with the childcare, but revealed how she felt ‘uncomfortable’ watching her mum flirt and be ‘touchy-feely’ with Ryan.
She said she suspected something was going on – and even once confronted them – but they insisted their relationship was innocent.
But when asked again about the affair after the devastating reality was laid bare, Georgina apparently shrugged and told her daughter: ‘We can’t help who we fall in love with.’
Jess told newspapers how she was ‘fuming’ Georgina and Ryan had left her to bring up two children alone.
She claims her mum has yet to apologise, leaving her in ‘disbelief’.
Family members are also said to be ‘stunned’ by the affair, describing it as ‘horrendous’.
