They’ll be joined by Recording Academy President Deborah Dugan and the chair of the board of trustees, Harvey Mason Jr, to announced the nominations.

Here is everything you need to know.

When will the nominations be announced?

The nominations will be announced on CBS This Morning in the States.

They are expected to be announced around 8.20am local time in New York, which is 1.20pm in the UK.

Which awards will be announced?

In total, there are 84 awards up for grabs at next year’s Grammy Awards. Obviously it would take a monumental amount of time to announce them all on a breezy morning news programme, so only a handful will be revealed live.

They include best new artist, record, album and song of the year.

The full list of nominations will be revealed on grammy.com immediately following the live segment on CBS This Morning.

The Grammy Awards are presented by America’s Recording Academy to recognise achievements in the music industry.

The Academy is made up of musicians, producers, recording engineers, and other musical professionals, and the awards are seen as the pinnacle of achievement, akin to the Oscars in film.

Each annual presentation ceremony features performances by prominent artists, and the presentation of the awards that have a more popular interest.

The winners are voted on by Members of the Academy, who are required to vote based upon quality alone, and not to be influenced by sales, chart performance, personal friendships, regional preferences, or company loyalty.

Only records released between 1 October 2018 and 31 August 2019 will be eligible for consideration for the 62nd Grammy Awards.

The first Grammy Awards ceremony was held on 4 May 1959 to honour and respect the musical accomplishments by performers in the previous year.

Who won last year?

Cardi BLady Gaga, Kacey Musgraves and Childish Gambino were the biggest winners at the 2019 Grammys, picking up more than one award each.

British artists Dua Lipa and Ella Mai were also among the winners, with Dua Lipa winning best new artist and Ella Mai picking up best R&B song for “Boo’d Up.”

Cardi B was the first ever solo woman to earn Best Rap Album with her musical offering, Invasion of Privacy.
