On Tuesday, the BBC announced a brand new format which will see the Irish presenter filmed live whilst interviewing celebrities from his home via video link.

This alternative style is an attempt to combat the recent coronavirus fears which forced several high profile stars to cancel plans to appear on the show.

Just a few days ago producers said they did not know how to fill the sofa for the BBC1 chat show, due to resume in April.

It was set to return with a James Bond special. But that plan was wrecked when the release of new 007 movie No Time To Die was postponed due to the coronavirus.

Now fans can breathe easy as its return is confirmed alongside the announcement of a Eurovision special, also hosted by Graham.

A selection of the much-loved singing competition’s finest moments will air in May instead of the cancelled live final.

Have I Got News For You will also return next month with hosts Ian Hislop and Paul Merton but it’s expected to be without a live audience.

There will also be new episodes of news satire show, The Mash Report.

The line-up also includes the much anticipated third series of Killing Eve, as well as Between the Lines, The Luminaries and Normal People.

With the current lockdown affecting the filming of several productions, the BBC confirmed that viewers can also expect to see re-runs of Gavin and Stacey and Outnumbered on a Saturday night.

BBC Director-General, Tony Hall, said: “The BBC is determined to do all it can to raise a smile and keep the country entertained during these testing times.

“We have lots of great shows already recorded, but we have also found ways to keep many other shows going so that the familiar faces people love will still be in their living rooms in the weeks and months ahead.

“I think that is incredibly important.”
