Gorka Marquez, 28, took took to the picture sharing site and wrote in view of his 414,000 followers: “For everybody that’s been asking, I can let you know that this series, I sadly won’t be partnered with a celebrity for the main series of Strictly. However, I will still be heavily involved in all of the group numbers and all things Strictly!
“I’m excited to see this year’s celebs and my fellow professionals dance for the Glitter Ball and I hope to be back fighting for it next year.
“As always, it’s gonna be a GREAT series.”
Fans rushed to comment on the shock news that the Strictly performer will not be taking to the dance floor this year with a celebrity partner.
One person said: “You’ll be missed you’re a great partner and wonderful dancer!”
Another person commented: “Gutted. Big mistake by Strictly.”
While a third person added: “Are they insane??! That’s shocking, totally gutted for you. Hope you still have the greatest time and the greatest fun whatever part you play in this years Strictly.”
Gorka has been a main fixture of the Strictly line up since his debut in 2016.
The Spanish choreographer was first partnered with EastEnders actress Tameka Empson the same year.
In 2017, he was paired with X Factor winner Alexandra Burke and the dancing duo made it to the finals of Strictly Come Dancing.
