Gordon Ramsay criticised for leaving London and spending lockdown at second home

The pictures were taken as some residents in Cornwall are growing increasingly angry with “second homers” like the star who are travelling to their retreats in the county against official government advice. Gordon, 53, took his wife Tana and their children from their main home in London to their £4million holiday residence before the lockdown started. Yesterday he was seen leaving the Spar store in Polzeath, where he had a chat with a man outside.

Armed with a coffee and a shopping bag, Gordon then returned to his 4×4 before driving off.

Some locals are so incensed by the sightings of Gordon in his dark Land Rover Defender that they are threatening to leak his address if he does not leave Cornwall.

Writing in the Facebook group “You Shouldn’t Be Here”, one of them said: “Wealthy second homers think making a few quid means they are immune from the virus and any rules. They are arrogant at the best of times, this has shown how bad some of them are.”

Another said: “A lot of second home owners have been coming to the area even though MPs have asked them to stay away. We only have one hospital.

“At Gordon’s house there’s a fleet of cars outside, Range Rovers, Land Rovers – they’re all outside.” Other people took to Twitter to complain. Tim Greaves said of second home owners: “No doubt Polzeath and other hotspot beaches will be packed with their spoilt offspring over Easter.”

Gordon has said he is spending the lockdown “working his fingers to the bone” by cooking three meals a day for his family. He told a radio show he felt like a “kitchen porter”. His spokesman was unavailable for comment.
