Google Maps: Mysterious creature spotted by the side of the road – what is it?

Google Maps is designed to help users navigate their way around the globe. However, the more people use it the more often they are finding out-of-the-ordinary occurrences. Most recently users scouring the island of Victoria in the Canadian province of British Columbia noticed a creature that seemed particularly strange. The user who found it took to Reddit to share the sighting.

On a quiet, residential road in British Columbia, lined by hedges, sits what appears to be a very mysterious animal.

Two chairs are sat up either side of a small table at the side of the road, resting on a patch of grass.

Either side of the scene are two decorative pink plastic flamingos.

The table is set up with a floral tablecloth and a potted plant in the centre, almost like a lunch-time date.

While one of the chairs sits empty, the other is occupied by something rather strange indeed.

In the chair sits a creature, casually easting a banana.

However, the creature might not be what the Google car expected to spot that day.

Its body appears human, dressed in dark blue shorts and a striped pull-over hooded jumper.

The bizarre being even has on shoes and socks.

The head, on the other hand, is not human at all.

In fact, it has the head of a horse, staring straight ahead and unmoving.

Is this some form of mystical creature that has been hiding out in the forests of Victoria?

Although that may be entertaining to believe, the likelihood is that this is just a local prankster who had an idea that Google would be coming and wanted to add some laughter to the Street View images.

They have certainly succeeded, with Reddit users commenting their own punch lines on the post.

One user wrote ”that will be 50¢ please” suggesting that the horse-man is hosting his own version of a traditional lemonade stand.

Elsewhere in the Google Map’s world, a giant, creepy creature was sighted from above.

In the Piedmont region of Italy, the cameras snapped a giant, pink rabbit, coloured an eerie shade of pink, with its mouth open in a silent scream.

Though it is an unexpected sighting, it turns out the animal was placed there on purpose and even has a name.

Named Hase – German for hare – the creature measures 200ft long and was installed by the art Collective Gelatin, who spent five years knitting it.

The piece is due to last until 2025 before it decomposes naturally.
