GOOD Morning Britain viewers are in hysterics as a guest “fat-shamed” Santa by saying he’s at high risk of catching Covid.
Ben Shephard and Charlotte Hawkins asked expert Professor Emer Shelley whether it would be safe for Father Christmas to come into people’s houses.

However, no one seemed prepared for the very detailed response in reply.
The expert told the panel that they assessed the many risks of Santa crossing the border in order to give presents to the world’s children.
And one of those risk factors was that Santa was overweight – putting him in the “at risk” category for coronavirus.
She said: “Yes, we’ve considered whether or not Santa Claus can travel this Christmas. It’s a serious issue because we’ve just been talking about travel between countries, and Santa Claus of course travels across the world. Is he at risk of transmitting the virus really right around the world?

“And is there a risk to Santa Claus himself? Because he’s not exactly thin. In fact, if he were to be having a medical exam, he would be considered clinically obese.
“That puts him at higher risk of diabetes, of high blood pressure and so if he were to catch Covid then he would be at risk of getting a very serious version of it and being put in intense care.”
Good Morning Britain viewers were stunned and in hysterics as they said Santa – who is magic – was being “fat-shamed” by the panel.

Another added: “Fat shaming is inappropriate at any time, but discussing it relating to Santa is sacrilege!! #gmb”
A third remarked: “Bloody hell – poor Santa! #GMB”
According to the NHS website, people who are very obese are considered “at moderate risk” of Covid – meaning they are clinically vulnerable.
Thankfully, it was confirmed he would be able to visit everyone across the world, with the guest confirming: “Discussing it with colleagues, we realised everybody’s asleep when Santa Claus calls.

“So he’s not going to come across anybody when he travels across the world from Lapland.
“Secondly, he travels so quickly, even if a part of his entourage were to have the virus attached to them, they’d travel so quickly they’d be no risk of transmitting the virus to anybody around the world. So at least that’s some good news on the public health front.”
