Good Morning Britain: BBC Breakfast presenter to land major role on ITV show?

Good Morning Britain presenter Susanna Reid, had a familiar face by her side on Monday morning, as Bill Turnbull returned to our breakfast TV screens this week. Hosting alongside his former BBC Breakfast co-host, fans were delighted that the two were reunited two years after his cancer diagnosis.

Despite battling prostate cancer, Bill was “buzzing” to be back on live breakfast TV, saying he feels good “80 percent of the time.”

The pair parted ways back in 2014 after 13 years hosting at BBC together.

And, as viewers tuned in to watch the two embrace after six years, it left some wondering whether he would be Piers Morgan’s next replacement.

The outspoken TV presenter, who’s regular spot is next to Susanna on the GMB panel, recently hinted that he was going to leave the breakfast show after his two year contract is up.

Last month, the 54-year-old told viewers they would continue waking up to the current Good Morning Britain presenting team until at least January 2021, but after that big changes could be coming, hinting at his departure.

He told his co-anchor: “That’s it, two more years, then I’ll sail off into the sunset. You’ve got me for one last swan song.”

Piers added later on in the show: “And I guarantee then I’ll be out.”

Ratings have soared since Piers joined Susanna at the breakfast desk, and she confessed she would miss her colleague if he really decides to move on, calling the loss a “shame.”

Fans took to social media to share their excitement that Bill was back presenting brekkie TV again after he left BBC Breakfast in 2016.

Speaking to The Mirror about standing in for Piers, Bill said: “I’m thrilled to be working with Susanna again and really looking forward to being on Good Morning Britain.

“We didn’t work together long enough and we got on so well. I was sad when she left at short notice.

“So for her to ask me to sit alongside her is very exciting,” he added, before saying: “I’m in two minds about the early mornings.

“On one hand, it’s great to be back doing live television. The other part of me thinks: ‘What on earth am I doing? Having sworn never to do breakfast television again!”

But the question on everybody’s lips is: will he be back for good?

Good Morning Britain airs weekdays at 6am on ITV.
