Golden Globes nominations – FULL LIST: Who has been nominated for Best Picture?

The Golden Globes take place once a year and set in motion the most important time in the movie industry calendar: awards season. Often, the Golden Globes act as a helpful way to predict the Oscar winners a month or so later, and this year looks like it will be just the same. With Marriage Story, Joker and The Irishman in the frame, this has been a big year for movies and will send shockwaves through the industry.

Who has been nominated for Best Picture?

Differently to the Oscars, the Golden Globes celebrates comedies/musicals and drama separately, meaning there will be two “best pictures” named on the night.

In the drama category, Joker will go up against Martin Scorsese’s epic The Irishman.

Netflix is clearly having a great year, as it will see three of its movies in the drama category, and another in the comedy/musical group.

The Two Popes and Marriage Story are two other Netflix productions, as well as The Irishman, while war drama 1917 makes up the final name in the drama category.

In the comedy/musical best picture group, Netflix’s Dolemite Is My Name will compete, which is a comedy starring Eddie Murphy.

Alongside this is Knives Out, a whodunnit from Star Wars director Rian Johnson starring James Bond’s Daniel Craig and Marvel’s Chris Evans.

These will battle it out against Quentin Tarantino’s Once Upon a Time in Hollywood, Elton John biopic Rocketman, and Jojo Rabbit, an oddball comedy from Thor Ragnarok director Taika Waititi.
