Golden Globes 2020: Tom Hanks’ wife Rita Wilson lashes out at no-show hair and makeup artist ahead of ceremony


TOM Hanks’ wife Rita Wilson had a nightmare start to her Golden Globes night on Sunday after her hair and makeup artist failed to arrive on time.

The actress had been patiently waiting for her MUA to arrive her her hotel room just hours before the red carpet kicked off and she took to Twitter to reveal how the unnamed MUA was over an hour late for the job.

The 63-year-old wrote: “My hair and makeup person is one hour and twenty minutes late.”

Ten minutes later, she added: “Hair and makeup still not here. Trying to be zen.”

Before informing her followers that she had booked the MUA back in September 2019.

The star then went on to post a picture of her makeup free face and messy locks just one hour before she needed to be on the red carpet.

She captioned the snap: “What you look like when your hair and makeup person for the @goldenglobes is one and a half hours late even though you booked him in September. Will leave one hour to do hair and makeup.”

The star is yet to update fans on whether the artist has finally arrived, or how she managed to work around the issue.

Fans sent messages of support to the actress as one wrote: “You’re beautiful, real and lovely, with or without makeup, BUT, I’d be livid.”

Another added: “Your gorgeous, throw on some lipgloss and rock it.”

The 77th Golden Globes are being held at the swanky Beverly Hilton Hotel in Beverly Hills, California.

The event will be hosted by British comedian Ricky Gervais for the fifth – and final – time.

In a statement, the funnyman said: “Once again, they’ve made me an offer I can’t refuse. But this is the very last time I’m doing this, which could make for a fun evening.”

The lavish awards ceremony is the first big event in the Hollywood calendar and is believed to influence the outcome of the Academy awards as Oscar nomination voting closes just days after the Globes.

Held by the Hollywood Foreign Press Association, a non-profit organisation of showbiz journalist and photographers, the ceremony was created in 1943 to award critically-acclaimed films and TV shows.

While there’s no dress code for the event, the stars are always dressed to the nines in dazzling gowns and bold statement ensembles.
