Glastonbury 2021 cancelled: What happens if you had tickets – and when 2022 festival is

Glastonbury Festival has been cancelled due to the Covid-19 pandemic for the second year running.

Michael and Emily Eavis announced the news on Thursday afternoon, with a statement on the festival’s website.

“With great regret, we must announce that this year’s Glastonbury Festival will not take place, and that this will be another enforced fallow year for us,” they said.

“In spite of our efforts to move heaven and earth, it has become clear that we simply will not be able to make the festival happen this year. We are so sorry to let you all down.

“We are very confident we can deliver something really special for us all in 2022!”

Glastonbury is one of the first major events to suffer a second cancellation at the hands of the pandemic.

It has been rumoured for weeks, with Spice Girl Mel B claiming that it was off on BBC Radio 5 Live earlier this month.

What happens if I had a ticket for Glastonbury 2021?

People who bought tickets for Glastonbury 2020 were given the option to roll those tickets over to 2021.

This will once again be the case. Anyone who has paid a deposit for a ticket for this year’s festival can roll it over to 2022.

You do not need to do anything to roll your ticket over, it will happen automatically.

Your booking will be like-for-like, meaning if you originally booked a coach ticket in October 2019, you will have a coach ticket for the 2022 festival. It is not possible to swap from a coach package to general admission or vice versa.

The Eavis family said: “As with last year, we would like to offer all those who secured a ticket in October 2019 the opportunity to roll their £50 deposit over to next year, and guarantee the chance to buy a ticket for Glastonbury 2022.”

What if I want to cancel my ticket?

If you would prefer to cancel your booking and receive a full refund of your deposit (and coach fare if applicable) without incurring any cancellation fees, you can do so.

The deadline to do this is 31 December 2021.

You can use the online form here to request a refund.

Individual people on a group booking are able to request a refund without it affecting the others’ tickets.

Any refunds will be issued to the original payment card. If you choose to cancel after 31st December 2021, the usual admin fees will apply.

How much will Glastonbury 2022 tickets cost?

The festival website says: “We won’t know the price for tickets for the 2022 festival until later in the year, but we will ensure that full details will be confirmed before the free cancellation deadline, to allow anyone who wishes to cancel their booking free of charge the chance to do so.”
