Glastonbury 2020 odds: Paul McCartney bets SUSPENDED by UK bookies after cryptic tweet

It’s the 50th Anniversary of the greatest music festival in the world. Who better to headline that a living legend from the greatest British band of all time? Speculation was already rife that Macca would appear, but he posted a cryptic tweet that actually wasn’t that cryptic tweet. Fans rejoiced, while bookies despaired. So, is it true?

McCartney tweeted images of famous people, one of pianist and composer Philip Glass, one of actress Emma Stone and the other of singer/songwriter Chuck Berry.

Put all their surnames together and what do you get?

Minus a few extra s’s, you are left with Glastonbury.

Obviously fans went into a frenzy and bookie saw a flurry of bets.

Emily Eavis, daughter of Glastonbury founder Micahel Eavis also shared her excitement with her 142,000 followers on Twitter.

She posted: “IT’S REAL!! So excited. Having Paul McCartney coming back to headline the Pyramid next year is an absolute dream come true. There really was no one that we wanted more for the 50th anniversary.”

However, there was also bad news about other legends who will not appear after all.

Fans are already disappointed that Queen has not been asked to headline the festival, despite riding high on a major new world tour.

In the midst of speculation about who else could headline, Emily Eavis has already ruled out Pink Floyd, Led Zeppelin and Fleetwood Mac.

Confirming the latter wouldn’t be making an appearance, she told Hugo Rifkind at the Cheltenham Literature Festival that she was “hopeful” they would play the Festival “one day”.

Diana Ross will be playing the legend slot, taking to the stage on Sunday afternoon.

In recent years, the spot has been filled by the likes of Kylie, Lionel Richie and Dolly Parton.

Glastonbury 2020 takes place on June 24 until June 28.
