When is Glastonbury 2020 Experience?

Glastonbury 2020 had been scheduled to take place between Wednesday, June 24 and Sunday, June 28 with headline performances from Paul McCartney, Taylor Swift, and Kendrick Lemar.

The event was to mark the 50th anniversary of the inaugural festival in 1970.

In March, organisers were forced to announce its cancellation because of the coronavirus pandemic.

Instead of airing the festival, the BBC have launched a new channel on iPlayer dedicated to showing a full line-up of sets from previous years.

BBC Two will also be airing a 90-minute programme of highlights on Friday, Saturday, and Sunday evenings.

Radio listeners can follow the celebrations on Radio 2, 6 Music and 1Xtra.

Full details for how you can tune in and enjoy the Glastonbury weekend can be found on the BBC’s website.

What is the full line-up?

Here are the major performances set to being replayed over the weekend along with the full line-up for today.

Beyonce

It’s been nine years since Beyonce’s widely-acclaimed set closing Glastonbury 2011.

The set opened with Crazy in Love and included a full medley of Destiny’s Child hits.

It also included covers of acts including Eurythmics, Kings of Leon, and Prince.

“I have always wanted to be a rock star,” Beyonce told the crowd.

“Tonight we are all rock stars.”

The performance will go out at 10pm on Monday.

Oasis

The line-up will include unearthed footage of Oasis’ first ever Glastonbury performance in 1994.

The set came just two months before the release of the band’s debut album, Definitely Maybe, and captured an act on the brink of stardom.

It included future hits like Live Forever, Cigarettes & Alcohol, and Supersonic.

Marking the weekend with a post on twitter, Noel Gallagher wrote: “There are literally hundreds of festivals in the world, and I should not because I’ve played most if not all of them.

“The funny thing is though, there’s really only ONE festival in the world.

“Glastonbury will change your life. #Glastonbury50”

The set will be shown at 4.30pm on Saturday.

Adele

Adele made her Glastonbury debut on the Park Stage in 2007, but in 2016 took to the Pyramid Stage to headline the Saturday night.

Just a few years earlier, in 2011, she had seemed to rule out playing a major slot at the festival, saying the crowds were “too big” and would give her an “anxiety attack”.

But when her headline performance came it was met with critical acclaim.

The set included hits like Hello and Someone Like You as well as a cover of Bob Dylan’s Make You Feel My Love.

The performance will be broadcast at 9.30pm on Saturday.

Ed Sheeran

Ed Sheeran’s headline set came just six years after the release of his debut album “+”.

That year, 2011, he played the Croissant Neuf stage in front of a few hundred people.

The 2017 performance followed the release of his third album, “÷”, and featured hits from the album including Castle on the Hill and Eraser.

Speaking on the night, he told the crowd: “It was a dream of mine, but I never thought I’d get to the point where I was playing this stage, let alone headlining it.”

The show will air at 11.30pm on Sunday.
