Glass of wine or two before bed can help weight loss – as it's like an hour in the gym


Is it too early to be talking about wine?

Possibly – but if you need a little motivation to get you through the day, then this could be it.

If you’ve ever felt a little twinge of guilt about the calorific content of a glass of wine , then new findings from the University of Alberta in Canada may help to ease that guilt.

In short, a glass of red wine equals an hour in the gym, which is music to our ears.

A glass of red is apparently like an hour in the gym

Research  conducted by Jason Dyck from the uni found that health benefits in resveratrol, a compound found in red wine, are like those we get from exercise. Resveratrol works because it acts to prevent fat cells from gaining more fat.

This good news is backed up by scientists from Washington State University and Harvard, who have discovered that your nightly glass of wine (or two)  can actually assist with weight loss .

According to the studies, you can help prevent weight gain by 70 per cent from drinking at least two glasses of wine a day, and red wine is the best option because of the resveratrol.

But for best results it has to be in the evening – this sadly doesn’t apply to a lunchtime glass.

Apparently the calories from the wine will help curb late night snack cravings – a big cause of weight gain.

Not completely convinced? The University of Denmark also found that people who have a daily drink, have slimmer waistlines than those who abstain.
