Glasgow-based digital imaging firm is taken over

Glasgow tech business Wireframe Immersive has been taken over by Soluis Studios , part of Soluis Group.

The deal is for an undisclosed amount but accounts reveal that an outstanding loan was due to Martin McDonnell, founder of Soluis, by Wireframe.

Soluis, which has been working closely with Drum Property Group, the developer behind the Barclays development at Buchanan Wharf in Glasgow, has had close ties with Wireframe.

Wireframe, which based in the city centre Lighthouse building, showed a deficit of over £48,000 in its latest set of posted results but was still viewed as a going concern, however its founder Claire McGarry stepped down as an owner and director in May 2018, according to Companies House. McDonnell lent Wireframe £54,237, according to posted accounts.

Wireframe creates photo-realistic imagery for local property developers, architectural designers and construction companies. The studio’s clients include the Scottish property sector such as HFD Property Group, 3dReid and Chris Stewart Group.

Soluis has assets of £1.17 million, while Wireframe’s turnover was significantly less. Following Soluis Group’s continued work on major international developments and Wireframe’s reputation within the Scottish property and construction markets, the integration is a strategic move for both studios, offering immediate benefit for clients with an increased capacity for high-quality CGI production.

Wireframe’s team will bolster the resources available to Soluis, who have been commissioned to deliver visual engagement and innovative technology platforms. Soluis Group’s recent work includes delivering the visual engagement for Everton Football Club’s proposed stadium plans by architect Dan Meis, through a series of virtual experiences delivered on mobile applications right through to shared immersion in a Reality Portal.

Scott Grant, chief executive officer of Soluis Group, said: “This move makes perfect sense for both parties and ensures that we continue to build differentiated value in the architectural visualisation sector in Scotland As the nature of visual engagement evolves, our aim is to offer a uniquely coordinated, scalable and collaborative approach.”

McGarry, who remains as managing director of Wireframe Immersive, and her team will move into Soluis Group’s Glasgow studio, where the business is headquartered, taking the total head count to 45.

Wireframe has seen strong sales in the past year, more than doubling from 2017 into 2018 after the restructuring and new appointments.

McGarry said: “We are focused on our strong relationships in the industry and this move ensures our clients will continue to receive the attentive and personalised services we pride ourselves on while offering an unparalleled level of service.”

Both companies have been recognised by the Scottish Design Awards with shortlisted projects in the visualisation category.

Wireframe’s visual marketing media for apartments in Bishopbriggs, and Soluis Group’s range of digital media experiences for the Radisson Hotel Group have both been shortlisted. The final award announcement will be made on 22August at Radisson Blu, Glasgow.
