GLAMOUR Tries: We tested the BaByliss Hydro Fusion Air Styler to find out if it *really* gives you a salon-grade blow dry at home (spoiler: it does)

There’s no better passtime than testing out the coolest new skincare/makeup/hair trends and snazzy innovations in beauty tech from the comfort of your own home. That said, there’s nothing more frustrating than spending upwards of £100 on a new at-home facial system or snazzy pair of hair straighteners, only to find out they don’t *actually* work.

Enter GLAMOUR Tries: the weekly Instagram series which sees GLAMOUR editors do all of the time-consuming (and expensive) work for you.

Yep, we’ve been busy trying out all of the wacky and wonderful beauty crazes to take the internet (read: TikTok) by storm – from FOREO’s UFO 2 Smart Mask Treatment (an LED face mask with a difference) to Toni&Guy’s Hello Day! Secret Volumising Crimper and KVD Beauty’s Good Apple Skin Perfecting Foundation Balm. These are the products every influencer/gen-Z beauty slueth/beauty editor is talking about on the internet – but that you want to be sure about before parting with your money.

Thanks to GLAMOUR Tries, you won’t need to waste your hard-earned pennies on testing these innovations yourself. We’re getting in their first, giving you the lowdown and making sure you invest in products that genuinely work. Like what you see? On GLAMOUR Tries this week, Beauty Editor Lottie Winter tested out the hugely popular BaByliss Hydro Fusion Air Styler, a hot air brush which recently sold out on ASOS. Not only does this styling tool ooze shelfie appeal with thanks to that pretty powder blue hue, but it uses a moisture balancing dual ionic system which combines both positive and negative ions to hydrate the hair, eliminate fly-aways as you style and keep things looking sleek. Forget hair being left damaged after using this rotating hot air brush – instead, BaByliss promises that it’ll be left silky, soft, shiny and conditioned. But did it live up to the hype?

“I finally managed to get into the salon, I had a hair cut; I had some balayage… it was great! And I decided to get some curtain bangs in the spur of the moment,” Lottie said. “Feeling pretty good about the decision to get bangs… it’s not too long so nothing too drastic. But I don’t really know how to style my hair at the best of times, let alone this new situation. So I’m hoping that this [the BaByliss Hydro Fusion Air Styler] will be able to help.”

“It’s basically a rotating hot brush. Now, once I turn it on, I can rotate it in either direction, so I can control the curl, and it’s just going to give me a big bouncy blow dry.”

It’s really easy to use, Lottie explains – and you don’t need to have mastered that “wrist-twirling” technique all the pro hair stylists have to achieve the curls you’re after. The brush will do all the winding up for you, once you press the button. And top tip: once you get to the top of your head, release the button, otherwise it will just keep pulling.

The verdict? “That took about ten minutes, and although my hair was quite dry at the front it was still pretty damp at the back and in the roots. And I’m really into this!”
