She hails from southern Brazil.

But Gisele Bundchen looked like every inch the city girl while enjoying some time to herself in New York on Saturday.

Trading in the laid-back attire for a leather shearling jacket, Gisele channeled her inner biker girl while making her way through the big city.

The catwalk queen exuded an air of cool confidence while walking down the sidewalk in a pair of classic skinny jeans.

She contrasted the edgy jacket with a Chanel cross body purse worn over her shoulder, giving her rugged look a classic touch.

Hair cascading down in loose ringlets, Gisele looked gorgeous with minimal makeup upon her complexion and a large pair of sunglasses upon her face.

She made her way comfortably through the city wearing a pair of clean white sneakers.

Gisele is back in New York after promoting her new book Lessons: My Path to a Meaningful Life in Germany last week.

The book recounts her story that began in southern Brazil growing up with five sisters.

It was somewhat fate she pursued a career in modelling as she had hoped to become a volleyball player or a veterinarian but instead she was spotted by a scout.

Gisele first made her mark on the modelling world when she starred in Alexander McQueen’s memorable rain-soaked London runway show in the spring of 1998.

However, the blonde insisted she was ‘not a model’ as it was simply a job she did which allowed her to see the world and paid her well.

She told VOGUE’s Rob Haskell in July: ‘I’m not a model. Modeling is a job that I do, a career that I’ve had. It allowed me to see the world, and I was well paid for it. But it never defined me.’
