It goes on sale from April 15 with an RRP of £1.25 although shops are free to set their own prices.

The meat-free snack marks the second time that Ginsters has worked with Quorn after the snacks company launched its first-ever vegan pasty in May 2019.

The vegan Morrocan Vegetable Pasty contains a butternut squash, chickpea, red piquanté peppers, apricot and date filling.

It’s also seasoned with harissa and cumin, paprika and cayenne chermoula paste.

Ginsters’ meat and dairy-free products come following the success of Greggs’ vegan roll and vegan steak bake.

Like Ginsters’ new creation, both of Greggs’ vegan treats are made with Quorn instead of actual meat.

Greggs’ vegan roll costs £1.20 – 5p less than Ginsters’ – although at 101g, it is smaller than the 130g Ginsters’ version.

Their vegan steak bake comes to £1.55.

We’ve asked Ginsters which stores shoppers will be able to buy their vegan sausage roll from and we’ll update this article when we know more.

The Sun has also asked how many calories it contains, as well as what Ginsters uses as a substitute for eggs and dairy in its pastry.

Greggs’ vegan roll contains 311 calories which is around 15 per cent of your recommended daily intake if you’re a woman.

Women should consume no more than 2,000 calories a day, while it’s 2,500 for men.

Non meat-eaters were treated to a whole range of new vegan snacks last month to mark Veganuary.

KFC announced it was bringing back its Vegan Burger for good following its initial success the previous year.

McDonald’s also launched its first-ever vegan meal with dippers that taste of pesto.

Meanwhile, Galaxy now sells vegan chocolate bars in THREE flavours.
