Ghostbusters: The Video Game – calling Taiwan would probably be quite expensive

It looks like the 2009 Ghostbusters game could be coming to current gen consoles, complete with the entire voice cast of the original movie.

The Taiwanese age rating board has been at it again. After yesterday seeming to reveal the box art, and possibly release date, of Gears 5, fans have also discovered they have a listing for Ghostbusters: The Video Game Remastered.

The original 2009 version was famous for featuring voiceovers from all four ghostbusters, something which is now impossible following the death of Harold Ramis.

It even featured the original actors for Walter Peck and Janine, as well as Max von Sydow as Vigo the Carpathian. This led to many fans regarding it as a semi-official third film, which is also how Dan Akroyd seemed to treat it.

To be honest, as essentially a third person shooter, it wasn’t that great a game but it was still okay and while the script was inevitability nowhere as good as the first movie it was certainly better than the recent reboot.

The Taiwanese website has the developer down as Mad Dog Games, who did NBA Playgrounds, but would presumably involve them merely remastering the Xbox 360 era original for modern consoles.

Only an Xbox One edition is mentioned but there’s no reason to think there wouldn’t also be a PlayStation 4 version, or indeed a Nintendo Switch edition.

Unfortunately, original developer Terminal Reality went bust in 2013, so they won’t be involved. Mad Dog are also listed as the publisher, although it’s unclear if that would be the case in the West as well.

The listing even includes the URL playghostbusters.com, which is currently dead but based on the evidence so far we’re ready to believe it.
