Getty Images Named Official Photo and Image Distributor for League of Legends Global Events


Riot Games has partnered with Getty Images that will see the visual communication company become the official photo image and distribution partner for League of Legends global esports events, which includes the World Championship, Mid-Season Invitational, and All-Star Event. As part of the agreement, Getty Images will facilitate all photo and licensing requests for League of Legends global esports events through 2024. The partnership will start with the 2020 World Championships this fall.

Additionally, past images from League of Legends world events like the first ever World Championship (Worlds), which took place in 2011 and 2016 Worlds, which saw a sold-out Madison Square Garden will also be made available for license.

Getty Images partners with professional sports leagues and sporting organizations around the world. As it stands, Getty Images is the official photographer or photographic partner to more than 80 sports governing bodies, leagues, and clubs, including the PGA Tour, FIFA, the International Olympic Committee, International Cricket Council, Major League Baseball, UEFA, National Hockey League, NASCAR, PGA of America, NBA, National Collegiate Athletic Association, Manchester United, FC Bayern Munich, and Ultimate Fighting Championship.

Other esports leagues associated with Getty Images include the W Series championships, an all-women’s simulation league and Polyphony Digital Inc., publishers of the Gran Turismo racing game series.
