Get GTA 5 free on PC through the Epic Games Store & keep it forever

Update: The free GTA 5 offer is now live on the Epic Store to kick off the Epic Games Mega Sale, with loads of offers and a new free game every day for the next week.

This week’s free game on the Epic Games Store might be the biggest yet: Grand Theft Auto 5.

Yup, Rockstar’s 2013 epic is free to anyone on PC this week, and so long as you claim your copy before the offer runs out you’ll get to keep it forever.

GTA 5 will be free on the Epic Store from 8am PST/4pm BST today, 14 May, and will be available until the same time on 21 May. Just make sure you sign into your Epic account and grab the game before time runs out.

If you’re not already an Epic user then sign up to the service and download the store app first. Then just head to the store homepage where the GTA 5 offer should be pretty prominent once the offer is live, and if in doubt just head to the free games section where you should find it.

The game was rumoured to be the next title in Epic’s weekly rotation of free games, and then the promotion was leaked by Epic itself in a tweet that’s since been deleted.

The current free game is indie puzzle game Death Coming, so grab that before 4pm BST today if you haven’t already.

GTA 5 is still one of the most profitable games around right now as millions of people still play the included online mode, so that alone is worth a go if you haven’t tried it already. And it should be enough to keep you busy while the long wait for GTA 6 continues.
